Welcome to our new family blog!

Given our family website has been out of order for quite some time now we thought we'd get a little family blog going in an attempt to better keep everyone interested updated on our family adventures.

Here's a quick summary to catch everyone up on current events...

Last August we moved the family to a suburb outside of Denver, Colorado, hoping for a better environment to raise our little family. We're loving the area up to now, between the Rocky Mountains that provide amazing ski fields less than 2 hours away in the winter time and wonderful hiking and fresh mountain air in the summer time, as well as our proximity to both Denver and Boulder (a cool little town 20 minutes from our house), we're thrilled with the move. Not to mention the incredible weather (the sun shines virtually every day here with gorgeous blue skies). Needless to say we're not really missing the humidity of DC!

In late December we moved into our new house. We're pretty excited about it as its been built by a 'green builder' (they've been building 'green' homes since the '60's so they're not just one of those that are just jumping on the bandwagon). In any case, our house has solar panels that provide approximately 50% of the energy for our home, we have recycled carpet in our basement (made from plastic bottles) and numerous other really great features. For anyone interested, here is a link to an article about our community - Bradburn Village: http://www.terrain.org/unsprawl/

The new house is also large enough to accomodate our family, which of course grew with the addition of our gorgeous son, James Colton on April 19. Anna is very excited to be a big sister and constantly showers her little brother with hugs and kisses. We've also got a spacious guest bedroom where we've already hosted various visitors (Blair & Suzi, Susan & Gil, Ty, Ines, Amanda & Steve, Trevor & Jen) and we're looking forward to hosting many more - so let us know when you plan on coming to visit!!!

Chris has been keeping very busy between work, projects around our new house and of course the demands of two little ones! He's been assigned to a new project at work that has him working quite long hours, but he's an amazing dad and makes sure to be home in time to put his little girl to bed every day before getting back to work for a few hours from home.

It's hard to believe that James is already 12 weeks old. He's a great sleeper (in fact last night he slept 10 hours straight - very exciting), and he's extremely interactive during his 'alert' time. Love to smile at mummy and daddy and has lots of cute little "coo's" too.

Anna will be celebrating her 2nd birthday on July 27 and she continues to be a loving, hilarious and fun little girl. She does have her 'terrible two' moments, but continues to melt our hearts every day. She's currently learning to count, tries to sing the ABC song and also does a great job at singing 'Twinkle Twinkle'. Anna has plenty of friends at day care and she has a busy social calendar attending all sorts of birthday parties. She's also having fun learning to swim and is in the throes of 'potty training'! Anna loves her 30 allowed minutes of TV time per day to watch "Dora the Explorer" and likes to have dad show her "Elmo" videos on YouTube!

As for me, I'm enjoying the last few weeks of maternity leave before I head back to work in mid-August. I still work 3 days per week for the same company I worked for when we lived in DC (Corporate Executive Board), but am working remotely from our home office in Colorado - which means I'm often working in my pj's :) I've been having fun cuddling my little guy and spending some extra time with Anna.

Now that I've got everyone up to date I promise all posts won't be this long...and we'll do our best to keep this updated fairly regularly with both posts and pics!

Cheerio!
