Anna's Makeup Birthday Party

We followed up Anna's actual birthday with a little party this past weekend for her closest girlfriends.  For the longest time Anna has been wanting a "Makeup Party", that is, a party where she and her friends get to put on makeup.  Initially I was hesitant (the girl is only 5 after all), but we decided as a special occasion to indulge her and landed on a Dress Up / Spa Day theme.

I have to admit part of the fun of this party was all the 'girl time' prep Anna and I got to enjoy together.  We shopped for fun nail polish and other accessories for the goodie-bags, we talked about what food we'd have, and Anna helped make all the signs that we posted around the house on party-day.  Its such a different experience having a big girl now that we can do the planning and prep together!  Love it!
Following are a bunch of pictures from the event.  Thanks to all those that joined us, it was super fun to have you there to help Anna celebrate!
Snacks included fun finger-sandwiches, curried eggs and fruit.

Anna inspecting the food right before her guests arrived.
Ava and Auggie doing a wonderful job on Anna's hair.

Michaela hamming it up for the camera with Auggie.

Harper getting some beautiful nails from her gorgeous Mummy, Viv.

Amy getting in the mix with the girls at the "Makeup" station.
Marc doing a fab job on Ellie's toes at the "Nail" station.

Is there a more gorgeous baby on the planet?  Precious!

Auggie getting her Pedi on courtesy of her Mummy, Chris.

Harper D. looking supremely regal!

Seriously, too cute... Michaela recently returned from a trip to Hawaii and is looking the part in her outfit along with Snow White!

Ava working Athena's hair at the "Hair" station.

Beautiful girls!

Beautiful girls in the mirror!
Anna with her own grass skirt - a gift from Michaela and family.  Anna also showing off what happens when 5 year old's do their own make-up...looks a little like war paint!

James got in the groove of big sister's birthday with some bead action.

Anna in 'bride' dress-up.  Kind of a scary preview into our future?!?!

So much fun!

James peeking into the girls 'Dressing Room' (aka our Mud-Room).

More makeup fun.

Chris helping Snow White with her hair.
These = Good Idea - no noise...

These = Bad Idea - sounded like our house was invaded by a bunch of Geese once we handed these horns out to the girls.
Thanks again to Donna Hay (love her!) for this years cake design and recipe.  Kids had a blast helping to bake this!

Singing Happy Birthday!

Anna modeling one of her birthday presents, a lovely dress, complete with war-paint makeup.
Hope you enjoyed the day our beautiful girl!
